Chan<\/a>, where a guy&#8217;s attempt at a perfect life goes awry, creepily. Extra points if you recognize the title from somewhere else!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/clarkesworldmagazine.com\/debodard_06_12\/\">&#8220;Immersion&#8221;<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/aliettedebodard.com\/\">Aliette de Bodard<\/a>: Cultural assimilation digitized. It made me upset for one of the characters, but it ended on a hopeful note.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/io9.com\/5918839\/must-read-neil-gaimans-tribute-to-ray-bradbury\">&#8220;The Man who Forgot Ray Bradbury&#8221;<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neilgaiman.com\/\">Neil Gaiman<\/a>. It&#8217;s by Neil Gaiman. Why haven&#8217;t you read it already?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.asimovs.com\/2012_06\/pdfs\/TheHomecoming_MikeResnick.pdf\">&#8220;The Homecoming&#8221;<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/mikeresnick.com\/\">Mike Resnick<\/a>. A man comes to grips with his son&#8217;s life.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/torbooks.co.uk\/2012\/05\/08\/peter-f-hamilton-short-story\/if-at-first\/\">&#8220;If at First&#8221;<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peterfhamilton.co.uk\/\">Peter F. Hamilton<\/a>: A police procedural that turns into something else halfway through.<\/p>\n<p>BONUS EXTRA STORY! <a href=\"http:\/\/grandsciencefiction.com\/2012\/06\/sequence\/\">&#8220;Sequence&#8221;<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/michael-haynes.blogspot.com\">Michael Haynes<\/a>: A story where the SF sneaks up on you. And, <em>Dan<\/em>, it&#8217;s only 1000 words so you can&#8217;t give me a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wikipedia:Too_long;_didn't_read\">TL;DR<\/a> on it&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Or, if you are more ambitious, here&#8217;s the list of books and authors mentioned in <a href=\"http:\/\/papersky.livejournal.com\/509278.html\">Among Others<\/a>. Of course, read Among Others first. It won the Nebula, after all!<\/p>\n<p>If you wonder about the briskness of my takes on each story, it&#8217;s because they&#8217;re from my tweets. I&#8217;m taking part in #storyeachnight, a self-explanatory hashtag if ever there was one. It&#8217;s fun, and it&#8217;s getting me to read more than the mammoths that I&#8217;ve plowed through lately. I have a great idea, why don&#8217;t you, fair reader, do likewise? It&#8217;s fast, it&#8217;s fun, and it gets you into a different headspace\u00a0(WordPress doesn&#8217;t like the word headspace. It wants me two swap in meatspace instead. Heh.) every night.
