A weekend in Toronto

I haven’t been to Toronto since high school and since I always thought it every other major city in eastern North America’s ugly brother, I never bothered to go there again afterwards. The only way Chris convinced me to go there this weekend is because all the other places we considered going to (Stratford or Niagara on the Lake) were too long a drive for me to embark on while pregnant.

Though I still maintain that Toronto is ugly, we had a good time. We caught up with Kopanas, saw a musical and had some nice grub. Amongst highlights were accidentally finding an independent record store (those are getting almost extinct in Ottawa) and getting some neat CDs we’ve been looking for in a while. The best part was that the clerk at Soundscapes used to work at Nebula in Montreal. Chris always wanted to ask him if he was the voice behind the show “Suburban Jungle” back in the day but was too shy. He did ask him about it on Sunday and it turns out that the guy was indeed Flipped Out, the host of the show. We also saw a film (Siddartha) at this crazy cinema which was just some guy’s living room with a big projection screen. In any case, great time was had by all.
